E&D Communications Specialist II (Hybrid)

Who We Are & What We Do:

The Environment & Development Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking a mid-level Communications Specialist II to support its six strategic initiatives for Sustainable Environmental Excellence: Materials Management, Natural Resources, Public Works, Regional Codes, Watershed Management, and Development Excellence. Primary work functions include social media, animation, and graphic design. Applicants wishing to be considered for this position should apply online at https://www.nctcog.org/careers. Description of the Opportunity:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Creating and managing the content on the department YouTube channel and social media platforms (especially Facebook and Instagram). This requires a working knowledge of keyword research, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and boosting Facebook posts;
  • Analyzing social media performance using Google Analytics, Facebook Business, Twitter Analytics, and Pinterest Analytics;
  • Developing other creative elements such as logos, fliers, signage, advertising, social media content and infographics in coordination with planning staff;
  • Creating animation explainer videos (using Vyond Studio) and natural resource-related visualization concepts for a variety of media including social media, PowerPoint presentations, meetings, etc., including, but not limited to script writing and coordination with planning staff;
  • Editing webinar recordings;
  • Providing customer service, presentations, and correspondence to the general public, partners, and stakeholders.

Desired Skills: 

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Detail oriented, organized, and ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines;
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Must be a self-starter with an ability to adapt.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree  Communications, Film/TV/Digital Media, Graphic Design, Journalism, or related field.
  • Over one year up to and including three years related work experience.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $48,911 to $67,755
