TARC e-Learning: Cybersecurity: Breaking Down the Dangers of Social Engineering

October 23, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Social engineering is the art of manipulating and hacking people so they give up confidential information. Not only are social engineering attacks becoming more common against small and medium businesses and governments, they’re also becoming more sophisticated. To stay a few steps ahead of cybercriminals, it is important to know about social engineering attacks and how you can help prevent you, your family, and your organization from falling victim to them. During this webinar, we’ll hear from John Romero, Assistant Director for the Texas A&M Cybersecurity Center (TAMC2) and Program Director for the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Cyber Readiness Center (CRC), who will discuss cyber predators (social engineers), phishing, blackmail, falling for scams, and motivations/tactics of a social engineer.
