2020 Aging in Texas Conference
POSTPONED until 2021
Dear Aging in Texas Conference Attendees,
Over the past month, the Aging in Texas Planning Committee has been monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and its potential impact on the 2020 Aging in Texas Conference scheduled to take place May 20-22, 2020 in El Paso, Texas. Last week, the City of El Paso extended its stay-at-home-work-safe-order to May 17. Because of this, I regret to announce that we have decided to postpone the 2020 Aging in Texas Conference until 2021. This was a difficult decision only made after reviewing all available information about the pandemic and holding countless discussions with the Aging in Texas Planning Committee, our local host, and state agency partners.
Overall, the health and safety of all attendees, staff, exhibitors, presenters, and their families is our main priority. Ultimately, we felt continuing as scheduled could not only put attendees at risk but hurt the communities each of you so bravely serve and who need you during this public health crisis. The work that each of you do is so vitally important to older adults and their caregivers across Texas and beyond. Now, more than ever, your energy and passion for serving and protecting older adults is paramount. Even though we are sad we won’t all be meeting in El Paso this May, we want to encourage everyone to be reminded of their own strength and resilience. We know each of you are capable of greatness in these challenging times.
We know you will likely have more questions regarding refunds and possible rescheduling; as we finalize these details, we will share this information via the conference website and personal emails to those registered. To provide the most basic reassurance, the Aging in Texas Planning Committee’s intent is to allow for all registrations to be fully refunded. While we can’t replace the 2020 Aging in Texas Conference, we are exploring ways in which we might be able to deliver some of the planned content to you in various methods throughout the year.
We understand that it is a very challenging time for many of you and are here to help. If you have any immediate questions or concerns, please reach out to Talia Milan by calling 512-478-4715 or by emailing email@example.com. Thank you for all that you do. We wish you and your family safety and well-being!
