This is a responsible, supervisory position. Coordinates work and activities associated with the regional solid waste plan and solid waste programs; Supervises and participates in the preparation, refinement, approval and amendment and implementation of the regional solid waste plan; Manages program budgets and contracts; works with local officials, various regulatory agencies and task forces in the development and implementation of solid waste programs; Writes grant proposals for increased funding and assists in the budget development, review and management for the solid waste program.
Duties include: Provides staff support to the AACOG Board-appointed committee that reviews the regional solid waste plan, program grant proposals, and program activities requiring review and recommendation to the AACOG Board for approval; Represents the region in negotiations with regulatory and funding agencies as well as before local officials; Works with local officials, various regulatory agencies and task forces in the development and implementation of solid waste programs; Prepares reports, letters and memos; maintains up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations administered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) and other agencies whose work impacts solid waste management activities. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Desired Education/Degree: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, community and regional planning or a related field desired; Waste management, or a related field plus two (2) years of progressively responsible experience related to solid waste planning/program management, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.
AACOG business hours 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., M-F. This position is a Pay Grade 15, with a starting annual salary of $46,948.12. This is an exempt position. Open until Filled. Only electronic online applications will be accepted.
