The Capital Area Council of Governments, CAPCOG, is a governmental organization serving the 10-county region surrounding the Austin metro area that coordinates with other city and county governments to provide programs and services related to community development, public safety, environmental issues and services for seniors. The Regional Planning and Services Division provides technical assistance and support to local governments throughout the 10-county region on issues related to planning and land use, sustainable development, transportation planning, natural resource management, and related policy fields.
CAPCOG is seeking a part-time (20-29 hours per week) Environmental Outreach Specialist to support the agency’s Air Quality Program and other agency program areas as assigned. Work will involve interaction with external customers, including governmental, private sector, non-profit entities, and the general public involving social media tools, websites, event staffing, and presentations in various settings. CAPCOG is looking for candidates with strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking. The ideal candidate would also be skilled in creating and managing website and social media content. For more information on the position, please review the job description. Education: Associate’s degree with a specialization in physical sciences, education, or communications, or completion of at least two years of a bachelor’s degree program with significant course work in physical sciences, education, or communications from an accredited four-year institution.
Experience: Public speaking experience and experience with social media tools are required.
Salary: $18.00 -$22.00 per hour depending on qualifications
