Aging Department

The Aging Department’s mission is to create and maintain a coordinated network of health and social services for adults, age 60 and older, and their family caregivers. They provide services and resources that help individuals maximize their quality of life and live as independently as possible. They help meet basic needs and make informed decisions by providing information, education, and direct services. They provide these services to individuals who live in Collin, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, and Wise counties.

 

Job Description

NCTCOG is seeking an individual that will provide and Medicare, Medicaid and other benefits information to callers and direct callers to additional resources. This individual will be responsible for documenting caller activity, aiding and submitting applications for public benefits, assisting with Benefits Counseling program activities, as well as providing phone support for the department.

Typical duties may include assisting with educational mailouts and logistics related to ordering and distributing outreach items, maintaining outreach documents in easily accessible electronic files, sending periodic satisfaction surveys to consumers and tabulating the results, helping update handouts and informational tip sheets, mailing or emailing educational materials to Benefits Counseling program volunteers and aging network contacts, and performing related duties such as formatting and proofreading documents, making copies, and scanning documents.

 

Required Skills

This position requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature as well as over one year up to and including three years of related experience. The work requires analysis and judgment to accomplish diversified duties, as well as the ability to think independently within the limits of policies, standards, and precedents.

Some required tasks include:

  • Entering caller/client data in SAMS reporting system, as well as Benefits Counseling volunteer’s client data and staff overflow client data as needed
  • Screening individuals for public benefits
  • Completing and submitting applications for programs that include, but are not limited to, Medicare Savings Programs, Part D Extra Help, and SNAP
  • Completing Medicare plan comparisons
  • Maintaining client records related to application submission as well as mail and fax documents as needed

 

Required Experience

Six months advanced study or training past High School equivalency and over 1 year up to and including 3 years related work experience.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Minimum Hourly Rate: 16.78/hour
