H-GAC is looking for a qualified individual for the position of Outreach Specialist. This position is an integral part of the Aging and Disability Resource Center, which helps serve older individuals, caregivers, and those with disabilities throughout a 12-county region. Responsibilities include conducting outreach activities to spread awareness of the core serves of the Aging and Disability Resource Center, as well as building and fostering relationships with partner agencies and other stakeholder groups. This role will include developing outreach materials, educational programs, and will require public speaking to a wide range of audiences. In addition, the Outreach Specialist will recruit and manage volunteers to help with job functions and will report performance data in a timely manner. This position will require at least 70% travel throughout a 12-county service area which surrounds Harris County. The ideal candidate would be able to demonstrate a high personal integrity, be self-motivated, have a desire to serve older individuals and individuals with disability, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Candidates with the knowledge of community resources for older individuals, individuals with disabilities, and family caregivers are preferred.
The successful candidate will have at a minimum:
• Associate degree in Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field of study
• Applicable experience may substitute for education
• Three (3) years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
• Must be willing to travel within 12 county regions.
Preferred qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field of study
• Five years of experience in quality assurance oversight and reporting or in aging programs and the Area Agencies on Aging network
