The purpose of this position is to oversee a team of personnel with similar functional roles and to provide IT consulting, project management and technical services. This is accomplished by supervising personnel, providing project management services, meeting with stakeholders and recommending/implementing technology solutions to meet business needs. This position requires a significant amount of technical knowledge and skill in a large number of technologies that are supported by the team. Other duties include:
- Supervises personnel by overseeing the daily functions provided by team staff; assisting personnel in decision-making, scheduling, and task prioritization; conducting performance appraisals; making recommendations regarding hiring, termination, and promotion decisions; assigning work and reviewing work to provide feedback.
- Maintains a significant level of technical knowledge and skill for the systems that are supported by the team in order to identify risks, staffing needs, appropriate use, and costs. Is a working manager performing complex technical tasks in coordination with team staff including overall architecture and systemic engineering of solutions.
- Provides project management services by identifying projects; locating and coordinating resources available for completion of the project; planning the outline and timeline of the project; assisting in the completion of the project overseeing the daily activities for the project and ensuring projects are designed to improve and expand IT services.
Work requires advanced skills and knowledge in approaches and systems, which affect the design and implementation of major programs and/or processes Agency-wide. Independent judgment and decision-making abilities are necessary to apply technical skills effectively. Consequences of work affect large groups as well as the customer-base at large.
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years related work experience.
