The Capital Area Council of Governments, CAPCOG, is an organization of city and county governments in the 10-county region surrounding the Austin metro area created to foster collaboration at the regional level and promote economy and efficiency in the coordinated development of the region. The CAPCOG Homeland Security Division supports local communities in planning, organizing, and responding to natural and man-made disasters by providing training and coordination, regional tools, and funding focused on preparedness, response and recovery activities.

The Homeland Security Division is seeking candidates to join their team as the Homeland Security Program Coordinator. This position’s main responsibility is grant administration and support including grant application development, progress reporting and administration for the division. Coordinates and; provides support and training to communities and stakeholder groups related to grant funding, reporting, and other related activities. Performs regional homeland security program activities related to all administrative functions including procurement, budgeting,and meeting management.  Works with reporting, analysis, data management, and other support functions for program activities and coordinates with the region’s emergency management coordinators, public safety responders, public health and medical professionals, elected officials, and other regional stakeholders.  May supervise the work of others.  Works under moderate supervision, with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Education: Bachelor’s degree with course work in emergency management, public service, or related area is required.


Required: One-year experience in grants management and emergency management.

Preferred: Experience developing emergency management; leading coordinating delivery of meetings, training and exercises, or grants management, monitoring, and development. Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis
