The Capital Area Council of Governments, CAPCOG, is a governmental organization serving the 10-county region surrounding the Austin metro area that coordinates with other city and county governments to provide programs and services related to community development, public safety, environmental issues and services for seniors. The Regional Planning and Services Division provides technical assistance and support to local governments throughout the 10-county region on issues related to planning and land use, sustainable development, transportation planning, natural resource management, and related policy fields, and provides GIS support to the agency’s Emergency Communications Division.
CAPCOG is seeking a GIS 911 Database Analyst II to carry out data management, quality control, spatial analysis, and mapping (cartography) in support of CAPCOG’s Emergency Communications program. Work will involve interaction with external customers, so strong written and verbal communication skills is important for this position. The ideal candidate is familiar with 911 addressing and Next-Generation 911 (NG911) standards. For more information on the position, please review the job description. Education: GIS Certificate, Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, or a Bachelor’s Degree with Strong GIS course work required
Experience: 3 years as a GIS professional having used geospatial technologies such as ArcGIS Desktop/ArcGIS Pro, and web-based GIS with ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal) and/or ArcGIS Online is required.
Education, training, and job experience may be substituted for one another as determined appropriate by the hiring supervisor.
