CAPCOG’s Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area (AAACAP) is seeking candidates to be an active part of the team as a Benefits Counselor, assisting in our mission to provide quality services to support the health, safety, and well-being of older individuals in the 10-county Capital Area. The successful candidate will apply specialized program knowledge and service skills to develop a plan of action to assist seniors age 60 or older and their caregivers with information about benefits and services available to them. The work in this position includes collecting, preparing, reviewing and analyzing case data to determine client eligibility for financial, medical and/or social services.
Travel is required within the 10-county region. Must maintain a valid Texas driver’s license, proof of insurance specified by the State of Texas, and dependable transportation.
Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in social services, business or public administration, political science or a related field is generally preferred.
Experience: Experience working within the human services field is preferred. Must obtain Benefits Counselor I certification within three months of hire date. Bilingual required.
Salary: $19.40 per hour
