The Capital Area Council of Governments, CAPCOG, is an organization of city and county governments in the 10-county region surrounding the Austin metro area created to foster collaboration at the regional level and promote economy and efficiency in the coordinated development of the region. Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area (AAACAP), a division within CAPCOG, provides quality services to support the health, safety, and well-being of older individuals in the 10-county Capital Area through a variety of programs and activities.

AAACAP is seeking candidates to be an active part of their team as the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) Information, Referral and Assistance Navigator. This is a responsible, non-supervisory position performing human services work and requiring familiarity with various government benefit and non-profit programs for older adults, persons with disabilities, and their caregivers. Work involves providing persons contacting the ADRC with intake, conducting effective assessment of individual needs, providing application assistance for state long-term services and supports and providing referrals to community resources. Work requires the employee to respond professionally, with sensitivity, timeliness, and accuracy to inquiries from individuals of all ages, informal caregivers, providers, and the public.

Education:

Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a human services field preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of one year of experience working within a consumer assistance field or social services field required; At least one year of experience in providing phone and/or direct social services assistance to consumers preferred.

Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.

Must obtain Alliance on Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) Community Resource Specialist Aging/Disability certification within the time and experience guidelines outlined by AIRS (maximum – within two years of hire date).

Salary range:

$19.24 per hour
