9-1-1 Addressing Specialist, Texoma Council of Governments

The 9-1-1 Addressing Specialist performs 9-1-1 address issuance, revision, correction, and verification services to our four (4) contracted jurisdictions. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of independent judgment. This non-exempt position is $51,500 annually, equating to $24.75 hourly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following performance measures:
• Perform rural address issuance in accordance with 9-1-1 addressing standards and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with the United States Postal Service (USPS), County Appraisal Districts (CADs), and elected/public officials for address issuance and correction.
• Assist citizens with 9-1-1 address verification and map requests.
• Perform Address Point creation and ensure accuracy by referencing imagery and other data with GIS software.
• Monitor and update the 9-1-1 addressing system to ensure accuracy and reliability for contracted jurisdictions.
• Read and interpret maps, plats, and site plans.
• Maintain and update data sets within our online mapping platform.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of standard office practices and ability to operate general office equipment.
• Knowledge of spelling, punctuation, and grammar rules.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows as well as Microsoft Office programs.
• Attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members of the public and elected/public officials.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and procedures.
• Ability to work in an office environment for extended periods.
• Knowledge of GIS software.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Graduation from an accredited two- or four-year college or university with major course work in geographic information systems, geography, computer science, computer information systems, geography, management information systems, or other related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position may be considered in lieu of degree.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

GIS Certification (desirable but not required)
Appropriate driver's license or available alternate means of transportation.
