Job Description
The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking Senior-level Transportation Planners to assume leadership roles in planning for public transportation and in implementing transit projects. Transit Planning
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assisting in the development of the region’s long-range bus and rail plan
  • Fostering collaboration with transit providers and communities in developing projects throughout the region
  • Developing transit plans and projects, conducting technical analysis and corridor evaluation, and preparing financial and service plans
  • Providing oversight of projects and their performance with respect to cost, time, content, and quality
  • Monitoring and reviewing service plans, technical reports, financial reports and service data created by transit providers to ensure consistency with plans, policies, technical requirements and regulations
  • Responding independently to requests for technical assistance via phone, or correspondence and providing technical advice


Transit Implementation
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Developing and managing procurements as the project team lead
  • Overseeing subrecipients or consultants and ensuring program compliance
  • Creating and maintaining project schedules, funding, budgets, contracts and reports with the support of supervisor and other team members
  • Managing federal transit related assets on an ongoing basis
  • Assisting with the implementation of the Vehicle Loaner Program
  • Developing and maintaining effective regional relationships

Both positions will work closely with public and private transportation providers, local governments, communities, and other stakeholders.  In addition, responsibilities for both positions include supervising staff; delivering oral presentations; developing work scopes; monitoring expenditures; meeting support; and the preparation and review of correspondence, documentation, articles, and reports.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work with communities to develop solutions
  • Ability to work with federal, state or local transportation programs
  • Short-term or long-range transportation planning experience desired
  • Knowledge of Federal Transit Administration programs and planning requirements desired
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in analytical, quantitative methods (Transportation Planning, Urban/Regional Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, or related area)
  • At least three years of job-related experience

FLSA: Exempt



Minimum of $55,184.00 per year
