Serving more than 7 million people in our region, the Houston-Galveston Area Council is the cornerstone to address issues that cross city limits and county lines every day. H-GAC is made up of 13 county governments, 107 cities, and 11 school districts. H-GAC is seeking a Lead Program Coordinator to join the Human Services department. The incumbent will provide oversight, collaboration, and management to the Area Agency on Aging’s elder justice program. They will provide care management of investigations and victim services for crimes against older and vulnerable adults. The incumbent will seek and recruit qualified volunteers to form county case coordination committees, conduct monthly and quarterly meetings, create county committee’s policies and procedures, and manage one subordinate staff member. Other duties will include:
Coordinate a regional board of legal, law enforcement, medical experts, counselors, caseworkers, social workers, crime victim expert, and other volunteers to create elder and disabled adult abuse curriculum.
Develop local policies and procedures for county coordinating investigations and victim services.
Organize case coordination committee meetings to review a minimum ten cases in each county.
Develop and conduct crime victims service resource needs assessments.
Create a uniform data collection of statistics on victims of crime over age 65 and/or disabled by county.
Develop a fiscal sustainment plan with private and public community partners.
Report program activities to funding agency at least quarterly.
The successful candidate will have at a minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Nursing, Gerontology
Five (5) years of professional work experience
Preferred Qualifications Include:
Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Nursing, Gerontology
Five (5) years related experience
