Provides content for all agency programs through Social Media Platforms; maintains Agency website and Social Media platforms; organizes and manages the council social media strategy committee; conducts media relations and social media best practices training; publicizes all agency and program events utilizing social media and conventional communication methods; researches and prepares educational information to be provided to legislative staff on regional issues; routinely attends and on occasion presents to chamber and interagency meetings to expand agency network, and general public’s knowledge of AACOG; has contact with public officials, representatives of other governmental agencies, private sector, agency staff, membership and the general public. In addition, serves as the agency’s liaison for event coordination (e.g. annual conferences, Roadshows, T4A, NARC, TARC, or program related event participation in the 13-county region); Assists in the preparation of agency reports (e.g. Annual Report, State Performance & Productivity Report, among others); Assists in promoting all of AACOG’s multiple programs and services through Social Media Platforms and outreach efforts; Assists Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Communications with researching or tracking of legislative issues impacting the Council and region; assists with developing general agency presentations for Executive Director to present to new Board members, member governments, legislators and staff, prospective AACOG members, and key partners; compiles Executive Director and staff meeting reports for Board of Directors and Staff Meetings; provides staff support for Board of Directors ad hoc Committees; as needed; performs functions associated with the Communications Specialist position.  Must have effective written and oral communication skills; as well as have an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, membership, elected officials, governmental entities, private sector and the general public. Knowledge of news and communication media; editing and preparing informational material; copy layout; and publishing and broadcast industries. Skill in editorial and design concepts and practices, and use of a computer and applicable software. Ability to research and prepare information; to design communication plans and materials related to the goals and priorities of the agency. Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field, plus at least three years of experience in public relations, preferably in the public sector; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. AACOG business hours 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. M-F. Pay Grade 18. Only electronic online applications will be accepted.
