This is a responsible, non-supervisory position requiring familiarity and experience with the public relations and communications field. Performs advanced informational and outreach work. Duties involve research, writing, editing, and production of informational materials ready for publication and dissemination to the general public, partner agencies, and key stakeholders. Previous experience with organizing events such as press conferences, discussion panels and town hall-style meetings desired. Travel in the region is expected, particularly for in-the-field informational and resource fairs (“Road Shows”) we put on along with other partner agencies. Preference for someone comfortable with public speaking and conducting presentations in front of audiences of various sizes. Seeking someone with knowledge of media relations – helping boost relationships with journalists, bloggers and social media influencers across our region. Excellent research, writing and editing skills needed for the preparation and distribution of news releases, fact sheets, advisories, and RFCs, as well as for mid- and long-range articles and reports. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products required. Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field. Will consider recent graduates but preference given to candidates with two years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, media relations and/or external affairs.
