Capital Area Council of Governments, CAPCOG, is a regional organization of city and county governments in the 10-county region surrounding the Austin metro area created to foster collaboration at the regional level and promote economy and efficiency in the coordinated development of the region. The Regional Law Enforcement Academy (RLEA) provides a Basic Peace Officer Course (BPOC) for those wishing to become licensed peace officers and offers in-service training for current peace officers. RLEA is accredited by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, the state agency governing licensure and qualifications for Texas peace officers. RLEA instructors are experienced law enforcement professionals who play a critical role in providing needed training to law enforcement personnel. Changes in statutory law, case law, public policy, crime trends and public opinion continuously shape training needs. RLEA courses are designed to enhance the quality and productivity of law enforcement agencies throughout Central Texas.
RLEA officers is seeking candidates to be an active part of their team as the Academy Office Coordinator. Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, working with an electronic data base, making confidential data entry, and coordinating scheduling and logistical arrangements for all training delivered. The incumbent will manage academy files and archives related to training records, TCOLE requirements, and records retention policies.
Travel is required within the 10-county region. The incumbent must maintain a valid Texas driver’s license, proof of insurance specified by the State of Texas, and dependable transportation.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent required.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a field related to the essential duties and functions of the position required. Experience working governmental administrative work; experience with law enforcement agency preferred. A combination of education and experience can be substituted for one another as determined by the division director.
Salary range: $19.00 – $20.00 per hour depending on qualifications
